Mid-Term Conference of ESA RN22 and ISA TG04 – 26 / 27 October 2023, Denmark

Dear Colleagues and Friends,
We are delighted to announce that the next Midterm Conference of the research groups on the Sociology of Risk and Uncertainty of the International Sociological Association and the European Sociological Association, entitled Uncertain times, unsettled lives? Complex risks and uncertainties in times of crises, will take place in Eisberg, at the University of Southern Denmark on 26th and 27th October 2023.
At times when risk and uncertainty has become even more pervasive the insights offered by sociological approaches are of utmost relevance for the understanding of emerging dangers, risks and uncertainties and for finding new societal ways to manage them. For our midterm conference we welcome contributions on risk and uncertainty and how they influence the lives of citizens, or how they are communicated and dealt with at multiple societal levels. We are looking forward to receiving a large number of abstracts across all societal spheres and topics, particularly on the stream on rural risks.

Please find below the call for papers with more detailed information, including the special support which is provided for PhD students to cover some of the conference costs.

We are looking forward to meeting many of you in Denmark.

Jens Zinn (President ISA TG04)
Maria Grazia Galantino (Coordinator ESA RN22)
Barbara Fersch (Local Organiser at the University of Southern Denmark)
